Xanthone-boronic acids: An insight into the synthesis of borylated xanthone derivates
Houngbedji, Priam-Amedeo ; Doležal, Martin (advisor) ; Zitko, Jan (referee)
CHARLES UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF PHARMACY IN HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY AND PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYSIS DIPLOMA THESIS XANTHONE-BORONIC ACIDS: AN INSIGHT INTO THE SYNTHESIS OF BORYLATED XANTHONE DERIVATIVES Supervisor: prof. PharmDr. Martin Doležal, Ph.D. HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ 2021 PRIAM-AMEDEO HOUNGBEDJI Abstract - English The development of Bortezomib 5 and discovery of its potential in the treatment of multiple myeloma has sparked hope, and a close attention is paid in medicinal chemistry to the synthesis of boronic acid derivatives as well as the evaluation of their anticancer, antimicrobial, and other activities. Parallelly, xanthones and xanthone derivatives are compounds thoroughly studied for their potential in the treatment of cancer, and their good antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and anticonvulsant activity. It is only natural that efforts are oriented towards the synthesis of xanthone boronic derivatives. 3,6-Dihydroxyxanthone 10 was chosen as a precursor for the development of a procedure to borylate xanthones, mainly due to its easy synthesis and availability. From 10, 3,6-ditrifylxanthone 11 was easily prepared. The synthesis of 3,6- bis(pinacolatoboron)xanthone 8 from 11 was achieved using bis(pinacolatodiboron) B2pin2 as a borylation agent under Pd(dppf)Cl2 catalysis...
Assessment of AML/CFT Practices and Suspicious Activity Reporting in the European Union member states
Vandasová, Daniela ; Pečená, Magda (advisor) ; Šíla, Jan (referee)
i Abstract This thesis presents an analysis of potential drivers of the numbers of suspi- cious transactions as precursors to money laundering conducted on the Euro- pean Union Member States between 2016 and 2021, and subsequently assesses the efficiency of the existing list of EU-recognized predicate offences to money laundering and financing of terrorism during this time period. Another con- tribution of this thesis is the consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic and assessment of its potential effects. This thesis used a newly compiled dataset containing EU-recognized predicate offences, enforcement factors, and macroe- conomic indicators. Based on the results of this analysis, the main drivers of suspicious transaction levels in the European Union between 2016 and 2021 were drug-related offences and the presence of the global pandemic of COVID- 19. Subsequently it was concluded that the list of predicate offences as recog- nized by the European Union was possibly not efficient in identifying plausible streams of money laundering during the analyzed period. Policy recommenda- tions that could arise from this analysis include promoting consistent reporting of indicators used in international legislation to allow for the development of a stronger data-based structure for further policy evaluation and...
Geometric Aspects of Detecting Grassland Mowing in Krkonoše Mountains Based on Sentinel-1 Coherence
Dvořák, Jakub ; Potůčková, Markéta (advisor) ; Mouratidis, Antonios (referee)
Grassland mowing is a common management practice used in European grasslands for livestock fodder production and to enhance biodiversity. To support a less intensive use of grasslands, public agencies look for a reliable way to monitor the management performed on the grasslands. Satellite remote sensing is a key tool for monitoring over large areas, with SAR remote sensing being especially useful in areas with high cloud cover. However, grassland monitoring using SAR in complex terrain is not fully understood and may come with challenges related to topography and sensor geometry. To explore these potential challenges, this thesis detected mowing events using a high-resolution DEM for precise coregistration and terrain correction of Sentinel-1 SAR imagery. Effect of local incidence angle on detection accuracy from interferometric coherence was also explored. The hypotheses were tested on 61 grassland plots in Krkonoše mountains, Czechia. Detection accuracies in this thesis were higher than in previous studies when only considering SAR detections. The improvement was most likely caused by counting detections from individual orbits to assess the certainty of each detection. A deeper analysis showed that using a high-resolution DEM led to a horizontal shift in computed coherence, but the shift had no...
Music Source Separation
Holík, Viliam ; Veselý, Karel (referee) ; Mošner, Ladislav (advisor)
Neural networks are used for the problem of music source separation from recordings. One such network is Conv-TasNet. The aim of the work is to experiment with the already existing implementation of this network for the purpose of potential improvement. The models were trained on the MUSDB18 dataset. It was successively experimented with the change of the network structure, transforming signals from the time domain to the frequency domain for the purpose of calculating the loss function, replacing different loss functions with the original one, finding the optimal learning rate for each loss function and gradually decreasing the learning rate during the learning process. The best experiments according to the SDR metric were training with loss functions L1 and logarithmic L2 in the time domain with a higher initial learning rate with its gradual decrease during the learning process. In a relative comparison of the best models to the baseline, it is more than 2.5% improvement.
Species-area relationship in birds: variation across temperate zone environments
Gaigr, Matěj ; Hořák, David (advisor) ; Hanzelka, Jan (referee)
The relationship between area and number of species is one of the oldest and most studied principles in ecology, often referred to as one of the laws of ecology. Ecologists use it primarily to model the expected number of species in a given area. The Species-Area Relationship (SAR) states that the larger the area being, the greater the number of species present. However, area is not the only factor influencing species diversity - habitat heterogeneity is also a frequently studied factor affecting species richness. The number of species in an area tends to be positively influenced by heterogeneity since factors that are positively correlated with heterogeneity have a large influence. These factors include the species diversity of vegetation, the level of energy productivity, the number of microhabitats, the effect of disturbance or the amount of different food sources. Individual temperate habitats differ in the relative contribution of heterogeneity in its impact on observed species abundance. Species abundance is not only influenced by habitat heterogeneity, but also by other factors such as altitude, climate or latitude. The most affected habitats regarding the relative contribution of heterogenity are forest environments. Vertical diversity is the main influence causing high heterogeneity in...
